World renowned chainsaw sculptor Dave Shelton joins the great artist line up at The 2019 Evergreen Western Art Celebration June 14, 15, & 16.
You may have seen him at a state fair or on one or all of Denver's TV stations, or maybe saw the story of his home being burned down. But Idaho Springs resident Dave Shelton is a chainsaw maestro. With carvings displayed all over the world, we are so excited Dave will join us Friday afternoon/evening of the festival to live carve
Dave's appearance will help with Dave's home re-building fund. Dave's home, artwork, and custom carved guitars were needlessly destroyed by an arsonist. See more about Dave here - https://denver.cbslocal.com/2016/11/13/dave-shelton-arson-idaho-springs/
We are also excited to have our special feature guest artist from last year - Randall May - once again showing his amazing double sided sculpture.
Notice the photos to the right. The cowboy on the bucking bronco turns into the grandfather telling his grandson about the ride on the other side. Truly amazing. Also see the videos below.
Born and raised on the western slope of Colorado, Randall explored the world of art since he was old enough to hold a pencil. Randall has been on PBS as a Featured Artist, has a painting in the permanent collection of the Museum of Nebraska Art, and his sculpture Back in the Day was purchased in 2014 by the Idaho Wildlife Museum for its permanent collection. His work ranges from small to monumental in size and is collected nationally and internationally.
"I don’t think of myself as an artist. I think of myself as a visionary who expresses himself through the medium of art. Its important to me to express myself well, so I must continue to grow and develop for that to be possible." - Randall May
CCM Events will also present superb quality artists of all kinds and specifically Western, Southwestern, and rustic artists. Also, artists that have mountain oriented work like landscape painting or photography, furniture, metal work, jewelry, or fiber all in a fun and family friendly setting. This is a juried fine art and fine craft show of 55 artists. What this means to the attendees and patrons is that every artist is hand selected for the quality and uniqueness.
